We often went to the then Yugoslavia when I was a child s there was no possibility to travel to Western Europe only later. But Croatia and Serbia offered great beaches so we didn’t mind it at all. I can remember as we were walking around in those ancient Italian towns and popped in to a cafe every night. My parents always had Turkish coffee and we shared a bottle of Yugo Cocta with Zsolt. That was the forebear of Coca Cola. Yugosclavia pursued a more open policy with the Western World and that was one sign of it.
We stayed in campings and enjoyed it. Feri was more into sunbathing and swimming while Lilly was eager to discover old churches or picture galleries.
Feri couldn’t have cared less but he followed us all the same from a certain distance. They often rowed bout it. It had always been and still is an unresolved question to me why they had got married. The allegedly wanted to get divorced several times but friends and relatives always persuaded them not to.
