It makes your everyday work awkward though, and in case you reside in a department without a badge, then the staff may ask you who you are, or if they can help, etc.

Wear Your Badge at All Times While on the Premises.
NHS workers must wear their badges at all times while at work. They help identify staff, especially in departments like operating theatres. However, entry into such areas also requires swiping your card against a sensor. Sometimes it is enough to just touch the sensor—you will hear a buzzing sound indicating you may push the door open.
If you leave your badge behind, it is still possible to call reception to gain access. Most areas also have CCTV and an intercom. Still, forgetting your badge makes your daily routine needlessly awkward. If you are in a department without a badge, other staff may stop and ask who you are, or may offer assistance.
Office access requires entering a code. If correct, a buzzing sound follows, and you can push the door open. This system helps protect personal belongings and confidential data.
