Lilly and Feri stayed in Nagybanya visiting close relatives when the revolution broke out. They had breakfast on 23 Otober and lisened to the radio. They were strange speeches that always broke down. In some time they understood that there was some serious trouble back home. They left us with or grandparents. In no time they made up ther minds to rush home. When they got off the train in Budapest they saw people running along the street, shouting and also shots were to be heard. They were just stunned.
Some minutes later they decided to find shelter at Lilly’s boss who lived just accross the street. They rang the doorbell but there was no answer. Later on they realised that he was hiding being a staunt member of the Communist Party. They then decided to walk home as briskly as it was possible jumping under the gates of houses when they heard shots.
They found us okay but from then on they had to move into the kitchen to avoid being shot by one member of the Soviet Army.
They were thinking to leave the country as I will tell in a following chapterbut they just couldnt make up their minds.
